More than an obsession with coffee, I would say it is related to the cafe that sells the coffee. My new obsession has been the cafe called Pust in Majorstuen, Oslo. I was never a big coffee/tea drinker before but after this cafe, it has become a daily affair.
What was interesting was the fact that I had been to this cafe before. My obsession with the cafe didn’t happen in the first or the first few visits. The cafe slowly grew on me and I just decided to use it more than to just grab a coffee. It mainly became my workspace which helped me get a lot of stuff done. I am a university student, the library in our University is a dull workspace and felt the need to change that. I tried working from home, it seemed to be hard at times with the bed nearby. I still use home to get reading done.
The best part about the cafe is not the coffee but the vibe of the place. It’s a cafe with great staff members who greet you and are friendly as well. Now that a few have seen me regularly, I even get to chat with them. In these uncertain times, when times have been tough especially with interaction or anything social. This place seems to have connected with me and this is the one time I get to be social.

I am not saying the coffee is bad by any means, the coffee and tea are both amazing. I especially like the tea better. Dirty chai and chai latte are my personal favourite. They have amazing pastries as well from pecan pie to cookies. One of the other things that work is everything tastes different compared to the usual cafes. Each dish/drink have their own taste towards them.

The only problem I seem to have with this cafe is the fact that it is hard to get seats during rush hours. Around noon it is super hard to find a seat for yourself. You might have to wait for a while, to grab a spot. One of the better things about the cafe is they start pretty early around 8:30 AM but at the same time, they close the place at 4:30 PM.
As much as I enjoy the coffee/tea at Pust, I would not claim this is the best coffee in town. What I mean by that is, there are some nice cafes in town which serve better coffee/tea. Those same cafes in my opinion don’t have an environment as good as Pust.
As I have mentioned before Pust is one of those few cafes which has an amzing vibe because of the environment it povides. I would say it is a great workplace, if you ever choose to work there. It has good music, just loud enough but not too loud and lot of natural light which just improves your morale and motivation.
I have lot of love for this cafe, especially because of the place itself. I keep making a joke with my friends that this is one of those cafes where the staff make the coffee/tea with love. I think this is especially important because the best way to explain coffee/tea is a “hug in a cup”. This is one of the places where I feel they care about what they provide their customers with.
If you live in Oslo or are visiting Oslo soon, this should be on your to do list. It is a great place to hangout with friends or even just grab a coffee by yourself and work. This is one of the common hangout spots for me and my friends. We don’t even think about where we have to go when we say “coffee” we have a mutual understanding it is Pust. This has become our Central Perk.
If or when I leave Oslo, I know I am going to miss this place because of what it means to me and all the good memories I have here. For now, I am just gonna enjoy my Chai Latte I am having at Pust.
